The catalytic Chemistry Section includes contributions in heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis with fundamentals and/or application-based studies. Examples are as follows, but not limited to:

CE: Chemical Education

Novel educational ideas or approaches, content for the classroom or laboratory, pedagogical advances, or educational research. Presentations can address a specific content area, describe a new pedagogy or teaching method, or provide results on an innovation or chemical education research study. Instructors of chemistry from school through graduate school, professional staff who support these teaching activities, as well as presenters from industry, and government are all welcome

EE: Environmental chemistry and renewable energy

The section of Environmental chemistry and renewable energy encompasses all branches of the chemical processes and techniques for the environment and renewable energy. Environmental chemistry could be applied to all chemical and physicochemical techniques for monitoring, analyses, and treatments of pollutants in air, water, and soil. For renewable energy, all types of energy resources, storges, and utilizations are included. The scope of this section welcomes the following areas:

  • Physicochemical and chemical treatment processes for wastewater
  • Water quality parameters and monitoring techniques
  • Sources, fate, and transport of pollutants in air, water, and soil
  • Role of atmospheric chemistry in air quality and climate change
  • Techniques for environmental monitoring and analysis
  • Renewable energy, e.g., solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, hydrogen.
  • Energy storages, e.g., batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen storages, and thermal storages
  • Life cycle assessment of renewable energy systems

The section of Industrial and engineering chemistry encompasses all branches on leveraging the chemistry for sustainable economic growth in industrial sector especially the bio- circular and green or BCG economy. Sustainable development goal (SDG) is also considered to be one of the core of this section. Emerging digital transformation for industrial and engineering chemistry is included. Initiations of Industrial engagement in engineering and applied chemistry education are discussed for experience sharing and networking. The scope of this section welcomes the following areas:

A symposium on " Materials science and Nanotechnology " focuses on the interdisciplinary intersections of chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology. The scope of this section includes, but not limited to, the following areas.

  • Materials Synthesis and Characterization (Exploration of innovative synthesis methods for materials and nanomaterials, as well as advanced characterization techniques to analyze their chemical, physical, and structural properties.)
  • Nanomaterials Design and Applications (Discussions on the design, fabrication, and functionalization of nanomaterials for various applications, such as electronics, catalysis, energy storage, sensing, and biomedical applications.)
  • Chemistry of Nanostructures (Examination of the chemical processes governing the formation, growth, and stability of nanostructures, including nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanowires, and thin films.)
  • Advanced Materials and Emerging Technologies (Exploration of cutting-edge materials and emerging technologies enabled by advances in chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology, such as metamaterials, 2D materials, and quantum materials.)
  • Nanotoxicology and Environmental Impacts (Discussions on the potential environmental and health impacts of nanomaterials, as well as strategies for assessing and mitigating their risks through interdisciplinary approaches.)
  • Smart and Responsive Materials (Presentations on the design and fabrication of smart and responsive materials that can adapt their properties in response to external stimuli, such as temperature, pH, light, or mechanical stress, enabling applications in actuators, sensors, and adaptive structures.)
  • Surface Chemistry and Interface Engineering (Explorations of surface chemistry phenomena and strategies for engineering material interfaces to tailor surface properties, adhesion, and reactivity, influencing applications ranging from coatings and adhesives to catalysis and biointerfaces.)
  • Nanofabrication and Nanolithography (presentations on the latest advancements and challenges in nanofabrication techniques and nanolithography methods for patterning nanoscale features with high precision and scalability.)
